A Floundering idea

I love Flounder as a mermaid. I came up with the idea now a couple of years ago. I wanted it to be a thing, kind of like how Bowsette became a thing, despite not being an official thing.

Hopefully one day I can get more commissions… and hey, maybe one day someone will cosplay as her… you never know… it could happen?

I’ve toyed with the idea of maybe making an art contest over her… maybe with a cash prize? I don’t know how to go about that, or even if there would be any interest in such a thing.

Anyways, I didn’t really have anything new to post for Mer-Monday, but wanted to share the idea that maybe I should do a contest? Thoughts? Concerns? Comments?

R.I.P. Stan, The Man, Lee.

Stan The Man LeeStan lived an amazing 95 years of life, and became a part of everyone’s family. This makes it feel even worse that near the end after his wife had passed, that the people who were actually close to him and should have been taking care of him, took advantage of him.

It is also sad that this WW2 hero passed away on veterans day.

Sgt Stan LeeStan went into the service in 1942, with his last rank being that of Sergeant. Wanting to be like the character he had written about, Captain America, but when it was found out that he was a writer, they stuck him in a room with a bunch of other creatives in the Signal Corps Photographic Center, writing training films and manuals. There he worked with the greats such as the acclaimed director Frank Capra, cartoonist Charles Addams, and even Dr. Seuss himself Theodor Geisel.

stan lee meets spider manStan and his friends such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko are legends in the comic book industry, and so much money has been made off of their hard work, some even by Stan himself of course, that it’s hard not to feel a bit bitter than things got the way they did without anyone successfully being able to intervene on Mr. Lee’s behalf.

Stan Lee was born Stanley Lieber in 1922. Legend says that he saved his real name for when he started to write more respected stuff, such as novels, although he admitted later that it was also faster to write that name down. When once asked about what his middle name in his on-going column in Marvel’s comic books, Stan’s Soapbox, he lamented that he had really shortchanged himself because he no longer had one.

J Jonah JamesonStan Lee’s work at Marvel comics should not be understated. He took a failing company, and brought them into greatness. He created the Marvel Universe, and most of the characters inside of it. Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, The X-Men, oh man… so very much.

I could go on for forever talking about this great man and his legacy… Stan… we all loved you so very much… and it pains us that we have to live on without you. I sincerely hope that you are at peace now.

The Bowsettes of Oni-Con

DSCN0122 CROPWhile at Oni-con last Saturday, I accidentally ran into a gaggle of  girls dressed as everyone’s favorite Mario meme generator, Bowsette!

How long will a sexy version of Bowser wearing the same crown that can turn Toadette into Peachette be relevant? No clue, but this awesome moment in time was captured by my camera… and that’s pretty awesome.

DSCN0116The crazy thing is that the crown that causes this transformation is from a game, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for Nintendo Switch, that has still not even come out yet! Six days away, and there are Bowsettes, Booettes, and… Shygette? Shy Gurl?

Whatever, it’s cute and the main point is that it’s so much more awesome than Toadette… which was surprisingly absent when I was at Oni-Con.

At this photo shoot, there were Mario’s and Luigi’s but no official princesses in sight, which was a little sad as I amd a huge fan of Princess Daisy. Anyways, enjoy the pictures below!
